While the Forum Special is showing the latest documentary by 88-year-old Japan-based Korean director Park Soo-nam Voices of the Silenced (2023), one of the references cited in her current film can now be discovered: breaking through silence is at the heart of this work, as is documenting the life realities and survival strategies of groups of people seldom at the center of attention—in this case, the North and South Korean hibakusha (victims of the atomic bomb).
